In the con­text of dig­i­tal pho­tog­ra­phy, work­flow refers to the steps tak­en to han­dle and image after it has been cap­tured. Depend­ing on the pho­tog­ra­ph­er, a vari­ety of work­flow (and soft­ware) is used.

When I am done with an event or a pho­tog­ra­phy job, my work­flow begins


  • Trans­fer­ring the RAW files to workstation
  • Archiv­ing orig­i­nal RAW files
  • Cat­e­go­riz­ing and select­ing pho­tos from the series shot
  • Adjust­ing expo­sure and light in the select­ed RAW captures
  • Con­vert­ing adjust­ed RAW cap­ture to a for­mat that can be processed by an image editor.
  • Mak­ing fur­ther cor­rec­tions to col­or and exposure
  • Sharp­en­ing the image and reduc­ing noise as needed
  • Cre­at­ing ver­sions for spe­cif­ic uses at spe­cif­ic sizes
  • Archiv­ing the var­i­ous fin­ished ver­sions of the photo
